I enjoy drawing everyday life to capture beautiful and meaningful memories. I love exploring and working with versatile mixed media; each art medium serves different expressive purposes.
I share some of my pen and ink drawings in the first part.
I love pen and ink drawing, and this remains one of the most relaxing for me. I have always appreciated, loved, and been grateful for our traditional Chinese hard pen calligraphy art. The deep-rooted foundation for writing complex Chinese characters helps develop sensitivity to stroke control and line expression in drawing. I prefer and am very used to direct drawing from initial observation. It is meditative and calming, allowing me to focus entirely on the moment.
I’ve created a series of pen drawings showcasing some of my favorite places in the San Francisco Bay Area. These locations have provided me with wonderful experiences and memories as I discover hidden book treasures. I’m glad to share my sketches to record my appreciation for these excellent places and good times.
The drawings and paintings I created in the "A Walk in Alameda" series were inspired by walking with my son in the Alameda neighborhood while living here.
Walking provides the ultimate inspiration for contemplation, reflection, and encountering more beauty. It reminds me to cherish life's moments and be present in the here and now.
This series is continuously published in the format of Zines and Postcards and is available for purchase.
The ZINE (Volume 2) is coming out soon.
